Pay scale: £12.70 – £13.20 per hour
Hours of work: As and when required
Location: Within a 30-mile radius of 404 Enterprise Crescent, Lisburn, BT28 2BP
Role:
Works under the direction of the coordinators and the registered manager. The care worker will work in accordance with the company’s training provision as well as the company’s policies and procedures. The care worker will carry out assigned duties in accordance with agreed care plans and will contribute to the aim of delivering services based on the company’s core values.
Duties may include:
- Attending to personal hygiene- Assisting clients with getting up to wash and dress.
- Observing of and attending to pressure areas.
- Assisting with toileting needs.
- Washing and drying a Client’s hair as required.
- Assisting with stoma and catheter care as required.
- Preparing food; help with feeding/drinking as required.
- Advance preparation of snacks and drinks.
- Assisting with shopping and appointments in strict accordance with the Company’s Policies and Procedures.
- Fire lighting and maintenance if required.
- Bed making and laundry / ironing duties.
- Washing up and general tidying / cleaning.
- Disposal of refuse.
- Maintaining and producing accurate records.
- Administering medication strictly in accordance with dispensing and recording policies.
- Caring for clients with complex or specialized needs. This may include working with individuals who may becoming challenging or have the potential to display challenging behavior.
- To provide care should a client become ill.
- To report to line manager regularly.
- General cleanliness and maintenance (charging of battery etc.) of the provided equipment.
- To adhere to and promote all of the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Care workers shall be required to register with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council, and maintain this registration.
- To participate in the company’s mandatory training program.
- This list is not definitive and care workers may be required to carry out tasks deemed suitable and appropriate by the manager.
Essential Criteria
- Be over the age of 18
- Have access to a means of transport which will enable you to carry out the duties of the post
- Be registered with or be prepared to register with the NISCC
- Have a flexible and honest attitude towards work
- Have access to a mobile phone and email account for work purposes
Desirable Criteria
- Have experience working with individuals who may display challenging behaviours
- Have at least 6 months experience in a caring role either in a paid or voluntary capacity
